Autumn Equinox is one of my favourite times of the year and as always I love to celebrate it by watching the Sun rising over the Lough from the beautiful vantage point of the Cooley Mountains. This is a lovely hike at dawn up to the rocks below Paddy’s Top where we will sit to welcome the Sun. From there we will make our way over to the Cross on Barnavave before dropping down to the Megalithic Tomb above the Deserted Village to give a nod to our ancestors who placed great store in this date.

This will be a gentle paced walk but it has steep sections and uneven mountain terrain so a reasonable level of fitness is required as are suitable clothing and footwear. No runners or jeans.
