If sunrises are not your thing then celebrate the Solstice with a Sunset hike up to the Cross on the beautiful Barnavave in the Cooley Mountains. We will stop off at the Megalithic Tomb above the Deserted Village to give recognition to the beliefs of the ancestors who called these hills home and whose lives revolved around these important times of the year. This hike will be done at a gentle pace but it is uneven, hilly mountain terrain so a reasonable level of fitness is required as are proper clothing and footwear. No jeans or runners please. A torch will be needed for the walk back under the night sky.
