Sliabh Foy
10 July 2022 @ 10:00 am – 2:00 pm
The summit of Sliabh is the highest point on the Cooley Mountains and also in Louth and without sounding too biased it also boasts some of the most stunning 360 degree views of Carlingford Lough, the Cooley Peninsula, The Mournes and Dundalk Bay. On a clear day you can see the coast of the Isle of Mann, Lambay Island and even the Sugarloaf! The Cooleys are filled with history and legends and these, along with the wonderful flora and fauna, make great excuses to stop and catch your breath on what can sometimes be a challenging hike! This is a hillwalk for people with a decent level of fitness as there are steep ascents and descents on rough mountain terrain. Proper footwear and clothing are required. No jeans or runners please…they just arent suitable.
Duration: 4hrs approx
Difficulty: Hard
Meeting Point: The Big Tree on the Village Green beside the main carpark in Carlingford
Note: All hikes leave on time so please allow yourself time to park and prepare.
