The first Picnic Hike of the season will be a gorgeous hike from the Village of Carlingford up to the summit of Sliabh Foy where we will pause for a short while to catch our breath and take in the fabulous 360 degree views of The Mournes, The Cooley Mountains, Carlingford Lough and Dundalk Bay before making our way across the ridge to the beautiful Eagles Rock 🙂 From here we will head down along Two Mile River to Omeath Forest where we will be greeted with a wonderful picnic lunch all set up and waiting for us 🙂 After lunch we will head back to Carlingford along the forest on a gentle trail.

This hike would not be suitable for beginners as it has steep ascents and descents and requires a fairly decent level of hill fitness and stamina. Proper clothing and footwear are essential. No jeans or runners please.

Duration: 6-7 hours approx

Please be aware that the walk leaves on schedule so allow yourself time to park and prepare.
