Paddy’s Top & Barnavave
28 January 2024 @ 10:30 am – 1:30 pm
This is a lovely hike up to Paddy’s Top at the Southern end of the Cooley Mountains with gorgeous views over the Peninsula. On a clear day you can see as far as Lambay Island, the Sugar Loaf and even the Isle of Man 🙂 From there we will make our way over the top of the hills to the Cross on Barnavave with its beautiful views of Sliabh Foy, the Mournes and Carlingford Lough. Then we will head down alongside Maebhs Gap to the Deserted Village and back to our starting point. This hike may not be the longest or highest but is without doubt a truly wonderful one 🙂 The trail is doable for most people with a reasonable level of fitness but there are some steep bits and uneven mountain terrain so proper clothing and footwear are required. No jeans or runners please.
Difficulty: Moderate
Duration: 3 hours approx
Meeting Point: The parking area near the Deserted Village on the South Commons Road, Carlingford. What3Words app diesel.hangouts.reconsider
