Imbolc sunset hike (family-friendly)
1 February 2022 @ 3:30 pm – 6:30 pm
Imbolc was a very important date in the calendar for our ancestors. It signified the first stirrings of Spring and the return of warmth to the earth allowing growth to start again
. It was also the day associated with the Celtic Goddess Brigid who was a triple deity and belonged to the Tuatha Dé Dannan and was daughter of Dagda. She holds a special place in our heritage!
Imbolc is midway between the Winter Solstice and Spring Equinox and is a wonderful time to “begin again”. So to celebrate we will be walking to the cross on Barnavave to watch the sun set and enjoy all that nature gives us.
Children over 7 are welcome on this hike but please be aware that it is tough enough in the time we have so they should be used to walking on the hills and up for the challenge. It will be cold and dark on way home so dress appropriately and bring a head torch (and snacks
)
If you are unsure if this is suitable for your family just message me and I will advise you ![]()
Note: My Junior Hikers are all fit for this so age restriction doesn’t apply to them.
Duration: 3 hours approx
Difficulty: Moderate
