Cross to Cross
19 April 2025 @ 10:00 am – 5:00 pm
As part of the Easter Weekend of Walks the mighty Cross to Cross challenge is back 🙂 This is a wonderful hike that will take us from Carlingford Village and up through Maebh’s Gap to the summit of Barnavave. The Cross is gone at the moment after the last storm but we will use our imaginations if it hasnt been replaced 😛 From there we will move on up to Sliabh Foy, the highest peak in the Cooley Mountains and the highest point in Louth. We will then make our way along the ridgeline to Eagles Rock before dropping down to Ballyoonan Cross and looping back around the lower slopes to our starting point. The views on this hike are exceptional and are constantly changing with each turn. We will be surrounded by mountains and sea on all sides. A truly wonderful trail, however, it is a challenging hike and requires a good level of hill fitness and stamina. Proper clothing and footwear are absolutely essential. No jeans or runners please.
Duration: 7 hours approx
Difficulty: Hard
Please be aware that the walk leaves on schedule so allow yourself time to park and prepare.
