Beginner Friendly Hillwalk
February 15 @ 9:00 am – 11:30 am
This hike is a gentle paced walk on the Glenmore side of the Cooley Mountains. We will be taking a route that will lead us up along the river with it’s beautiful ravines and waterfalls before heading along the edge of the White Bog at the lower slopes of Sliabh Foy. We will have a short break up there before winding our way back down the hillside to our starting point at the Glenmore Stone. This walk has uneven terrain and an uphill section but it is about being “in” the hills not “on” the hills so we will be taking time to take in our surroundings and the beautiful flora and fauna we will encounter on our way 🙂 Proper clothing and footwear are required (no jeans or runners) but it is doable for anyone with a reasonable level of fitness.
Duration: 2.5 hours approx
Difficulty: Gentle paced on uneven mountain terrain. Reasonable fitness required
Meeting Point: The Glenmore Stone, Riverstown
What3Words App: dozed.cradled.amends
Parking is roadside and limited so please carpool where possible and park responsibly. Please be aware that the walk leaves on schedule so allow yourself time to park and prepare.
